About the Artwork
There's a very good reason fig trees have held a special place in myth and culture for people all over the world for millennia. In places where nothing will grow - places devastated by volcanic eruption, stripped of nutrients by mining, places that are far too wet, or far too dry; figs can grow. And when they do grow, the insects and the animals will come to eat their fruits. And when the animals and insects come, they bring with them seeds from a wide variety of plants, turning a single tree into a diverse and thriving ecosystem.
Sometimes it just takes the right seeds, the right ideas, the right changes, to make a difference and bring hope back. We cannot change things by ourselves, but maybe if we nurture those seeds, they will become a catalyst for the changes we are striving for. We can only hope.
